Donaldson Docks was founded in 1961 by Glen Donaldson, a blacksmith who lived on Big Spirit Lake in Iowa.
Glen grew tired of the constant damage done to traditional post-and-plack docks by wind storms, which happened often on the lake. In response to this challenge, he saw an opportunity. He got to work, and designed and constructed a dock made of redwood and steel that could withstand the heaviest of storms. Satisfied with his work, he wanted to share it with others.
From there, Donaldson Docks continued to grow but has always remained a part of the community. Each dock is custom made to order in Estherville, Iowa and built by skilled machinists and welders who are passionate about their work. Over the years, our team has earned a reputation for building the most dependable docks found in the Midwest.
